Elio is a founding partner of D’Alessio Romero Law Firm. He obtained a Bachelor of Arts with Honours Degree in Economics from York University, earned his law degree from The University of Manchester School of Law, attended The University of Toronto Faculty of Law and is a member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario.
Elio’s practice is devoted to serious personal injury claims (motor vehicle accidents and slip and falls) and denials of short-term and long-term disability claims.

ROBERT H. ROMERO

Robert successfully represented clients charged under the Provincial Offences Act and Canadian Criminal Code (summary conviction offences) in the Province of Ontario from 1992 to 1995. Thereafter, Robert developed a passion for helping accident victims receive fair compensation for their injuries and losses.
Robert is a well-respected, experienced and skilled negotiator, who vigorously advocates on behalf of his clients’ claims with respect to Motor Vehicle Accidents, Slip and Falls, Canada Pension Disability Appeals, and Short-Term or Long-Term Disability Benefits.
Robert’s main area of practice pertains to Statutory Accident Benefits’ claims, representing his clients at proceedings before the Licence Appeal Tribunal (LAT), an adjudicative tribunal that is part of the Safety, Licensing Appeals and Standards Tribunals Ontario (SLASTO). As a P1 Paralegal Licensee, in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario, Robert is licensed and experienced to provide legal services in Ontario. Robert’s high level of commitment, dedication, professionalism and energy transcends into his work and the successful representation of his clients.
Robert is also a Notary Public (Ontario) and has successfully completed the Family Mediation Training Program through Riverdale Mediation Inc.

JAMES M. GALAN
PARTNER
Mr. Galan is a courtroom litigator who provides fair, aggressive and professional representation to individuals who are injured by the negligence of others. He has recovered millions of dollars for his clients.
Mr. Galan’s practice focuses primarily on injury insurance claims, including motor vehicle accidents, slip and fall injuries, long-term disability claims. He is responsible for the firm’s employment law division.
Mr. Galan was awarded the Ontario Scholar Award by the Province of Ontario, prior to obtaining his Bachelor’s Degree at the University of Toronto, St. George Campus. He studied Spanish at the University of Malaga and the University of Havana. He obtained a United States and Canadian Law degree at Michigan State University, College of Law and University of Ottawa Law School. At Michigan State University, he was awarded the Jurisprudence Achievement Award for that school’s Competitive Negotiation Class.
Mr. Galan appeared at hundreds of Superior Court matters. He regularly appears at contested and uncontested motions, including the Court of Appeal and as lead counsel at a personal injury Jury Trial. Among his achievements, he won against an insurance company that tried to prevent his client from obtaining compensation when his client was injured outside Canada (Iglesias v. Brown, 2009 CanLII 41360 (ON SC)). The Court ordered the Insurance company to pay the plaintiff’s costs. He won against an insurance company that attempted to transfer his clients’ cases to another jurisdiction to obtain a tactical advantage. The Court ordered the Insurance company to pay Mr. Galan’s costs (Chen et al. v. Ji, 2013 ONSC 7408). He won against an insurance company that attempted to prejudice his clients’ right to a fair trial (Guo v. Ji, 2013 ONSC 7684 (CanLII). The Court ordered the Insurance company to pay Mr. Galan’s costs. Mr. Galan’s firm won against a Defendant that improperly delayed his client’s case for compensation (Duong et. al. v. Lopez, CV-11-428239). The Court ordered the Defendant to pay Mr. Galan’s costs. Mr. Galan’s firm won another motion where his firm secured a $3,500 cost award against a defendant insurer. Mr. Galan has also won his seventh consecutive Tribunal Hearing. The D’Alessio Romero trial team was successful as an Intervenor when an Insurer sought to potentially prejudice our client at trial (Aviva v. Wawanesa, 2018 ONSC 5779). The Court ordered costs against the Insurer (Aviva v. Wawanesa, 2018 ONSC 7030). On April 2019, the D’Alessio Romero trial team was successful again when the Court awarded the Plaintiff costs against a self-insured defendant for improperly refusing questions at examination for discovery.
Recent Victories:
- Mr. Galan litigated a client’s Chronic Pain case resulting in a $670,000+ victory.
- Mr. Galan litigated a client’s case resulting in a $740,000+ victory.
- Mr. Galan litigated a client’s case resulting in a $1,750,000 victory. The client sustained chronic pain and a concussion as a result of a motor vehicle collision.
- Mr. Galan litigated a client’s case resulting in a $1,250,000 victory. The client sustained chronic pain and psychological injuries as a result of a motor vehicle collision.
- Mr. Galan litigated a client’s case resulting in a Seven figure victory. The client sustained chronic pain and a concussion as a result of a motor vehicle collision.
- Mr. Galan litigated a client’s case resulting in a $1,075,000 victory days before an Arbitration. The client sustained a possible conversion disorder as a result of a motor vehicle collision.
- Mr. Galan litigated a client’s case resulting in an $875,000 victory. The client sustained psychological injuries and chronic pain as a result of a motor vehicle collision.
- Mr. Galan litigated a client’s case resulting in a $660,000 victory. The client sustained orthopaedic injuries and chronic pain as a result of a motor vehicle collision.
- Mr. Galan litigated a client’s case resulting in a $570,000 victory for a client who sustained orthopaedic injuries and chronic pain as a result of a motor vehicle collision.
- Mr. Galan litigated a client’s case resulting in a $425,000 victory. The elderly client sustained chronic pain and psychological disorders as a result of a motor vehicle collision.
- Mr. Galan litigated a client’s case resulting in a $377,000 victory. The client sustained chronic pain as a result of a motor vehicle collision.

Giovanna is a lawyer with a sole and dedicated focus on Family Law.
Giovanna is the current and active founding partner of Cacciola Family Law located in Richmond Hill, Ontario and is affiliated with D’Alessio Romero Law Firm as Counsel to the firm’s Family Law Department.
With over 14 years’ of experience practicing Family Law, Giovanna represents a wide range of clients dealing with all facets of a marriage or relationship breakdown. Giovanna regularly deals with complex financial issues involving corporations, trusts, and tax issues. Giovanna also has extensive experience dealing with children’s issues, arguably the most important aspect of Family Law. Giovanna approaches these issues with the utmost of care and consideration for the children’s best interests and how those interests can be met both currently and in the long term.
Giovanna practiced at Epstein Cole, the country’s largest Family Law firm, for over a decade, before deciding to move her practice to the York region.
Giovanna will negotiate, mediate, arbitrate or litigate depending on the specific needs of each client and circumstances of each case.

Giovanna has authored and assisted with a range of papers and book chapters, as well as researched a number of family law topics, dealing with such issues as: custody and access assessments; matrimonial property; procedure; spousal support; tax issues; mediation and arbitration; criminal matters that overlap with family law matters; estate matters that overlap with family law matters; parallel parenting; same sex marriage; retroactive support; and calculation of income for support purposes. Giovanna also extensively researched the effect of Parent Information Programs on the litigation process in the Family Courts while a student at Osgoode Hall Law School.
ANTHONY MATIYA

Anthony completed his Bachelor of Arts majoring in Political Science and Business from York University and attended The University of Westminster’s Law School where he obtained his law degree.
Anthony has experience in personal injury, occupier’s liability, insurance disputes, and real estate law. He has advocated and appeared at motions and hearings at the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, Ontario Small Claims Court and the Criminal Injuries Compensation Board.
Anthony brings his experience in motor vehicle accident, slip and fall and long-term disability cases to the firm. He handles his files with diligence, proficiency and empathy for each of his client’s special needs. Anthony’s skills and broad experience in the area of personal injury litigation are of considerable value to the firm and his clients.
Anthony speaks Arabic fluently and is a member of the Ontario Bar Association and the Canadian Bar association.
RYAN CAESAR
LAWYER
Ryan Caesar is an associate lawyer who leads his own D’Alessio Romero Team. He was called to the Bar in 2010. Prior to joining D’Alessio Romero, Ryan worked at a prominent law firm in Toronto, Ontario for a number of years. Ryan has worked exclusively in plaintiff personal injury litigation since his call to the Bar and has experience in dealing with complex and serious personal injury claims. He has appeared before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice and various Ontario Tribunals including the License Appeal Tribunal, the Workplace Safety and Insurance Appeals Tribunal and the Social Security Tribunal.
He obtained his Bachelor of Arts Degree with Honours in both Criminology and Business Law from Carleton University and then obtained his Juris Doctor from John Marshall Law School in Atlanta, Georgia.
Ryan’s primary area of practice is focused on representing clients who are injured and disabled as a result of motor vehicle accidents, slip and falls, denial of long term disability claims and serious assaults. He has obtained millions of dollars in maximum compensation for his clients over his years of service. AHMED MOHAMED

Ahmed returns to D’Alessio Romero Law Firm, as an Associate Lawyer, following his call to the Bar in 2021, and the completion of his articles with the firm.
He obtained his Bachelor of Arts with Honours Degree from the University of Guelph and completed his Juris Doctor at the Bora Laskin Faculty of Law, Lakehead University.
Ahmed’s primary area of practice is civil litigation, with a focus on Plaintiff personal injury claims. He has regularly appeared before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, advocating on behalf of clients who have suffered serious personal injuries.
Prior to joining D’Alessio Romero Law Firm, Ahmed completed a Practice Placement, as part of his law degree, with a boutique law firm in Thunder Bay, Ontario, where he assisted counsel in the preparations for motions and trials.
Outside of the office, Ahmed enjoys spending time with friends and family, playing soccer, and trying new restaurants.
CARTER BRODKORB

Carter joins D’Alessio Romero as an articling student following his completion of a joint JD/MBA degree from York University. During his time in law school, he was an active member of the community, holding executive positions in the Osgoode Charity Law Association, the Osgoode Society for Corporate Governance and the JD/MBA Students Association. Through his MBA studies, he also developed a strong foundation of business principles and financial acumen, enhancing his versatility in tackling complex legal issues.
Prior to law school, Carter completed a Bachelor of Music with Honours from the University of Toronto and pursued a career in the performing arts industry. As a pianist and composer, he has performed across Canada and internationally, receiving numerous awards for his skill and dedication to the arts community.
Outside of the office, Carter enjoys travelling, spending time with his family, and staying active by playing hockey, golf, and swimming.
SAFFIR GORAYA

Saffir recently joined D’Alessio Romero Law Firm as an articling student. He obtained his Bachelor of Arts with Honours Degree from York University and obtained his Bachelor of Laws with Honours at the University of Birmingham. After law school, he completed his accreditation assessments and is currently a lawyer licensing candidate in Ontario.
During his studies in law school, Saffir developed an interest in civil litigation and became conscious of his desire to use the legal system to help those in need. This desire to help others kindled his interest in personal injury law, where he would have the opportunity to represent clients who have been injured.
Outside of the office, Saffir is an active member of his local community here in Vaughan. He speaks Urdu, Punjabi, and Hindi. During his free time, he enjoys staying active by playing competitive volleyball and basketball.

Philip is a senior paralegal with a wealth of experience representing clients at the License Appeal Tribunal in regards Statutory Accident Benefit claims.
